Bye's?

What is the point of all of these bye matches in the brackets? Anyone heard of condensing, it is rather unfair to those teams on the bottom and I count 13teams with a bye and for some reason *Ja isint in there. That would make an even number so there is a legitimate first round. Also, although it might be biased if whomever running this has any knowledge they could definently get an idea who the better teams are and avoid paring them in the first round in order to have more competitive rounds in the future especially the final.

ps the maps are horrrrrible. use classic df maps aka before bhd time.

Ja* are not listed because they did not have the required minimum number of players listed on the team roster before the signup deadline. A number of teams were dropped for the same reason.

We have 8 on the roster right now I believe. If someone is going to get their panties in a bunch over a "deadline" then that is just foolish as it diminishes the value of a tournament that has so few teams competiting already. Further at the time of our removal we had 5 on the roster and we had 2 waiting to be authorized at the time of our removal. Also our leader was not contacted via e-mail or any other manner in order to provide a warning that there was a rule of a minimum required players. As far as I could tell there was only a suggestion of 6 I read in a post last night, which is fair all things considered, so we immediately had members sign up.

Seth, I am sure you guys were removed because there was a post on Novaworld that you guys were going to withdraw a few weeks back. Since then there have been several people saying you guys were not in it, with not on reply from any member of your team saying something else.

There was no post of any sorts further if there was going to be a withdrawal that is up to Big as he is the one who as registered us and subsequently he is resposible and the deciding factor of if we withdrawal or not. These things cannot be done under assumption.

The only person who should be allowed to withdraw my sqaud from the list is myself and i never sent a email in or a forum post on this website saying we were gonna withdraw

I love you seth, but they had to have byes, this is a 5 round tournament and maps rotation already made up for that. Only think I think could of been done different is Double elim. I believe real champions are the ones that can lose and come back!

If you want to keep up to date with tournament announcements and happenings, please visit the forums, we don't have time for individual e-mails.

19 (or 20 with Ja*) teams listed means we have to have some "byes" in round 1 to get the remaining teams into a 16-8-4-2-1 sequence. Its just a function of the numbers of teams - if we had had 32 there would be no need for byes in Round 1.

When the brackets were drawn the Tournament Admins made a decision to drop any teams not showing the mimimum number of players on their roster as specified in the rules. Dates were announced in the forums regarding this. At the time we did this Ja* has 3 members listed on their roster (see this (http://www.orbsecurity.com/f/showpost.php?p=1300&postcount=30) post for a count of the various rosters at the time). This is no conspiracy to keep Ja* out of the tournament, or to poach your roster.



As we have a number of "bye" slots open, we will look into dropping Ja* into one of these.

I have no issues with JA coming in on a BYE slot. If any team wishes to play Ja first round please post here and I will add the match to the bracket.

If I read the rules right the deadline for the roster was 48 hours prior to the tourney starting, and the tourney was posted to start on the 22nd. This would make the 20th the roster deadline and it was clearly posted as a 6v6+ tourney. I know for a fact that ja only had 3 players on the team list as of last night (21st) because I went and looked at all of them.

That said other teams have managed to slip by, such as NovaHQ unite which was given a slot with only 1 player on the roster. I am sure the guys will let you play but you really need to be more on top of this stuff.

Also Solarflare clearly posted that Ja canceled the server and dropped out of the tourney on 7/14 in the post that AJ linked to.

fivewall, how did you and I not end up on the same team? Your posts are like me posting. LOL! Nah, seriously, unorganized sloppy squads drive me nuts. Happens every tourney. 3 or 4 teams wait till the last possible moment. The organized leaders do stick out like a sore thumb. It's fun to watch actually. I'm sensing a "Phaetheon draws the line" moment coming soon. ;)

It's easy to sit here and talk about what we would of done instead... so this is what I would of done. :D

I would have taken the 6 teams with the least amount of players and forced them to play an entry match. I see the low member teams as being the highest risk of doing forfeits so this way we would most likely get the forfeits out of the way in the pre-matches. Then after those teams battle it out we could start the tourney with everyone playing round 1.
